ACU taps evangelical 'specialist' for missions seminar
In the April 2003 issue of <a href="www.acu.edu" target_blank">eConnections, Abilene Christian University announced it has invited an evangelical to teach in its annual summer missions seminar.
We are bringing in a Missions specialist, Gary Corwin, Associate Editor of the Evangelical Missions Quarterly. He will be teaching on three aspects of leadership development: The Christ of Leadership Development, The Curricula of Leadership Development and the Challenges of Leadership Development.While the university has had (and perhaps still does) evangelicals teaching in their Bible department before, they now proudly announce the inclusion, evidently for the first time, of a major evangelical figure in the missions seminar.
We await further announcements of evangelical presence in their lectureship. Perhaps even a future university president. If not, why not?
In some ways I must wonder at our brethren. Are we so ignorant that we must go to the false religionists in order to pursue evangelism and leadership? Do we not have scholars trained well enough that we cannot teach ourselves about the leadership Christ desires from us? Are we forced to mimic the leaders of false religious groups?
How sad a day, that one of our "top" schools must turn to false teachers to learn how to pursue truth!
